Why Scout
International Harvester built something the industry didn't know it needed.

The Scout predates the Bronco, the Blazer, and the CJ as a mainstream off-road utility. Built to work — in fields, on trails, in weather. The fact that it's also one of the most compelling restomod platforms is a happy accident of its design.

We know every Scout generation intimately. Where they rust. What the factory left unfinished. What they need to drive the way they should. And how to build them so they'll last another 50 years.

Shortcuts — frame-off means frame-off, every time
The Platform
Every generation.
We build all four Scout generations. Each has its own quirks, known failure points, and character.
1961 – 1965
Scout 80
The original. Half-cab design, four-cylinder or inline-six, 80-inch wheelbase. Rarest of the four generations. Frame-off almost always required — these have had decades to rust.
1966 – 1968
Scout 800
Longer wheelbase, more powertrain options, better door sealing. The 800 is the most versatile LS swap candidate — the engine bay works well and the proportions are right.
1968 – 1971
Scout 800b
Comanche version with longer bed — rare and sought after. Same mechanical profile as the 800 with an extended rear. Finding a solid donor is the challenge. We source nationally.
1971 – 1980
Scout II
The most common and most capable. Longer wheelbase, wider track, better suspension geometry. The Scout II is what we build most — easier to source, better to drive, and benefits most from an LS swap.

Our Process
How a Scout build works.
01
Source & Assess
We find the right donor — or assess yours. Floor pans, frame rails, cab corners, rockers. Everything documented before committing to scope.
02
Teardown
Body off frame. Every component assessed. Rust cut out and replaced with new metal. No filler over structural problems.
03
Build
Frame rebuilt. Chassis dressed — axles, brakes, suspension. LS swap or original rebuild. Wiring replaced. All in-house.
04
Paint & Interior
Body back on. Paint applied to a vehicle that's already complete underneath. Interior to your spec. Road tested before delivery.
